Thoughts from HWG Founder Robert Vaughan as he
reflects back on his connection with HWG
One of the things I miss most about moving away is the camaraderie we had as members of the Heartland Writers Guild. The old chestnut is that Writing is a lonely business, but that isn't really true. We share a most unique perspective as writers. We "move into the projects" we are writing and while writing have the company of our characters, or subjects of our work. All writers understand that, and we don't have to explain it or even talk about it when we are together.
On those occasions when we are able to get together, there is a closeness, a blending of mind and soul that creates a bond that spans time and space. And now, many years later, and many miles away, I still sup at the table with my friends and fellow writers from HWG.
