October 20, 2013 - Reprise: HWG Field Trip and Mini-Retreat
Start making plans now to attend the annual Heartland Writers Guild field trip October 20. The trip this year will again be a retreat to the farm of Guild President Mary Rechenberg. We will be treated to a delicious meal followed by campfire stories with Chief Paul White Eagle. Members are encouraged to bring spouses.
The HWG October Meeting will include a field trip to the Lutheran Heritage Center and Museum, 75 Church Street in Altenburg, Mo. The group will meet at the museum at 2:00 pm. (located next to the fairground's parking lot) for a tour and information about other historic buildings in the town.
Altenburg is located in the southern portion of Perry County Missouri. From highway 61 just north of Fruitland, Mo., turn right on highway C. Stay on C for slightly over 12 miles to Altenburg. In Altenburg turn right on highway A going through town, then right on Church Street to the museum.
Following the tour a mini-retreat will be held at Rechenberg Farm, located east of Pocahontas, Mo. The cost of the retreat is $12.50. It will include a picnic meal at 5:30 pm. followed by a presentation (around the campfire) by Chief Paul White Eagle of the AhNiYvWiYa tribe. (We had such a good time last year we invited him back).
