Heartland Writers Guild, Inc.

At our Sunday afternoon meetings, members from throughout the heartland come together to learn, to share their experience and knowledge, and to participate in spirited shop talk.

Whether you're just beginning to write or are a seasoned professional with numerous publications to your credit, we believe you'll find value in belonging to the Heartland Writers Guild, and you will benefit by attending our monthly meetings.

Meetings also offer Q&A sessions where members ask questions and receive answers based on the varied experiences of their fellow writers.

April 18-Karen Sargent: A discussion of the marketing aspect of a book launch

May 17 Saturday-HWG will have a joint meeting with the SEMO Writers Guild at the First Presbyterian Church, 235 Broadway, Cape Girardeau, MO. A representative from Mockingbird Press will geve a presentation about what a publisher looks for in a manuscript.  Note the change of time and location.

"Writer Read Arounds"

Members now have an opportunity to share their writing at HWG monthly meetings. Time will be allowed for several writers each meeting to read from their written work. Because of the diversity of writing styes within the group, members will enjoy readings from fiction and nonfiction works. They will share cuts for novels, essays, articles, short stories, childrens stories, and poetry.

We look forward to the time in 2021 when we will once again be able to get together to share our writing experiences and successes and encourage everyone to keep on writing. We are all looking forward to getting back together when we feel it is safe to meet as a group.

We enjoyed being creative by having four meetings in the Jackson Park this fall! At this point, our winter temperatures will not permit this type of meeting location.
