Next Conference: June 2010

Efforts to bring editors and agents to Sikeston for a 2009 conference haven’t been as productive as we had planned. Therefore, members attending the January Guild meeting voted to cancel the 2009 HWG Writers Conference previously scheduled for June at Sikeston. Members expressed the hope of getting back on our schedule of once again exploring the possibility of hosting a conference in June of 2010. We are sorry that we won’t be doing the conference this year but we look forward to 2010.

In lieu of our conference this year we are encouraging our members and others interested in attending a writing conference in this area to consider the Missouri Writers’ Guild Conference which this year will be held at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on April 3-4, 2009. Information about the conference and speakers can be found at www.mwgconference.org. Check out the contests associated with the conference at www.mwgcontests.org. Depending upon the category, published and unpublished writers who are not members of Missouri Writers’ Guild may enter various contests associated with the conference as long as they are paying attendees. The President’s Contest is limited to Missouri Writers’ Guild members only.

Be sure to note the contest deadline date which is coming up soon. Submissions to the contest will be accepted between January 1- February 6.
