Heartland Writers Guild, Inc.

Since the founding of HWG in in 1988, our history is sprinkled with a variety of writing conferences both multiple day and one day events.

HWG has hosted Friday night/Saturday morning workshops, Open Mic/Coffee House events, and on one occasion a  writing retreat.

The Guild has organized book signings at writing conferences and at local venues enabling members and area writers to market their books.

At the heart of the Guild is the ongoing, for over a quarter of a century, "Sunday Afternoon HWG Meeting."

Members share their successes and seek assistance with questions they have relating to their writing projects.

We pride ourselves in our dedication to encouraging anyone involved in the writing and publication process to join the Guild and to benefit from these regular meetings.

33 Years and Still Going

Members with a variety of writing styles have their pencils sharpened, their pens  clicked, and their computers ready in order to complete current writing projects and to check their files for new projects to explore in the new year. Members plan to focus on a variety of publication options.

2020 has been a challenging year in many ways to everyone. However, members have completed projects and have moved  them to publication. Other members have acquired agents through research and also through networking at writing conferences and have their manuscripts on the road to publication.

We are looking forward to continued success with much of that success being attributed to information presented and shared at monthly writing meetings held at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Missouri, on the third Sunday of the month from 2-4 pm.  Be sure to check the monthly meeting schedule for changes in the regular meeting lineup.
